10 Comfortable, Stylish Women’s Loafers for Bad Feet

My personal favorite comfortable loafers are the bestselling Vionic Uptown. If you’ve followed Barking Dog Shoes for any length of time, you know I have rheumatoid arthritis and bad feet, so I do understand what makes a comfortable, supportive loafer. I’ll start this list with my video review of the Vionic Uptown (I’ve had them over a year and they’re still going strong), followed by nine more bestselling women’s loafers with high reviews for style and comfort. Feel free to share your recommendations in the comment section. Oh, and a little hint: if loafers tend to give you heel blisters while you break them in, try this nifty little product that I saw mentions on Reddit: Compeed Anti-blister stick!

1. Vionic Uptown Loafer

Over 6000 reviews on the Vionic website with an average 4.6/5 stars for comfort, fit and style. I love my Vionic Uptowns for the enhanced arch support, soft suede uppers that don’t pinch bunions or tailor’s bunions. They go with all my casual outfits from jeans to trousers to skirts. They’re available in so many pretty colors: neutrals, patterns, deep jewel tones and color block.

Sizes: 5-13 • Widths: M & W • Price: $89-145 from Vionic Shoes, Zappos, Amazon & Nordstrom • Find a deal on eBay

2. Gentle Souls (by Kenneth Cole) Sophie

“If you’re tired of stiff shoes that need to be broken in, you need these loafers.” Nordstrom customer review

I’m all for structured shoes when it comes to arch support, but sometimes my achey arthritic toes crave forgiving, baby-soft leathers. You too? The Gentle Souls Sophie features a square toe box, elasticized heel for a snug fit, hidden 1″ wedge heel, multi-layer PORON®-cushioned insole with moderate arch support and the softest of leather and suede uppers.

Sizes: 5-11 • Width: M • Price: $142-189 from Kenneth Cole, Nordstrom & Amazon

3. Franco Sarto Carolynn Low

“Attractive, comfortable – even in the toe box – and surprisingly lightweight. The navy is true, dark and luxe. I’m not normally a tassel fan but this shoe won me over!” – Nordstrom customer

Affordable, classy and comfortable, the Franco Sarto Carolynn Low loafer dresses up your workaday wardrobe–without the ubiquitous chunky lug-sole (it’s not for everyone). The synthetic leather uppers make the shoe budget-friendly. This modern loafer features a lightly cushioned insole with minimal arch support, rounded toe and 1.25″ heel.

Sizes: 5-11 • Widths: M & W • Price: $66-110 from Franco Sarto, Amazon, Nordstrom (find a deep discounted deal at Nordstrom Rack)

4. Born Maris

“I love these loafers. They are so comfortable and I love that they don’t slip on wood floors when I walk. They have a nice arch support and also a metatarsal support which is a plus.” – Nordstrom customer

This dress casual loafer features a soft suede upper with moc-toe design, cushioned footbed with arch support and high traction rubber outsole. Customer reviews are skewing positive for all-day comfort and support, although a few mention the shoe runs a little large–so order accordingly.

• Sizes: 6-11 • Width: M • Price: $99-135 from Nordstrom & Amazon

5. Cole Haan Lana Lux Remastered

A timeless quality-made square toe loafer with soft leather uppers and a nicely cushioned footbed. The Cole Haan Lana Lux Remastered receives positive feedback for its good fit and feel.

Sizes: 5-11 • Widths: M & W • Price: $59-180 from Zappos, Amazon , Cole Haan & Nordstrom

6. Easy Spirit eFlex loafers (from top): Velia, Velina, Vivy, Vitalia

“This classic style comfortable and not boxy; the tapered toe gives it a slimmer look.” – Easy Spirit customer Wendy

Do you prefer a loafer with a tapered toe? How about one that comes in extended sizes and widths? And a removable footbed that accommodates orthotics? Then try a pair of Easy Spirit’s eFlex loafers with a removable cushioned footbed with arch support and flexible outsole.

Sizes: 5-12 (reviews mention they run long)• Widths: N, M & W • Price: $77-109 from Easy Spirit, Zappos, Nordstrom & Amazon

7. Clarks Westlynn Bella

I refer to this fabulous Clarks shoe as a Goldilocks loafer (it’s just right)–check out my review here. It’s not too pricey, but certainly not cheaply made; the arch support isn’t too aggressive, but also not flat; the lug sole isn’t too chunky, but not thin and flimsy…you get the idea. Apparently I’m not the only one that thinks the Westlynn Bella is the bees knees–Clarks customers award this sweet loafer 4.7 stars out of 5!

Sizes: 5-12 • Widths: M & W • Price: $50-95 from Clarks, Macy’s, Amazon & Zappos

8. Dr. Scholl’s Shoes Hello Loafer

Do you have slightly narrow, low volume foot? These comfortable loafers by Dr. Scholl’s Shoes may be your answer. Most customer reviews state that the Hello loafer fits a narrow to medium foot width best and runs just a little short, but the comfort technology is spot on for the price.

Sizes: 6-11 • Width: M (runs narrow and low) • Price: $39.99-55 from Amazon, Dr. Scholl’s Shoes & DSW
